We finally got notice from Baltimore City’s Housing Department that they have granted us a five-year right of entry to our farm space. That’s legal speak for a five-year lease to farm, sell, and make improvements on the lot. City officials informed us that we are the first urban farm in the city to get this length and scope of agreement. I hope this marks the beginning of trend for the City rather than a unique case.
Teddy Krolick, our neighborhood organization’s Environmental Coordinator, deserves much of the thanks for hounding city officials and getting the Baltimore City’s excellent Office of Sustainability involved. Thanks Teddy, and thanks Baltimore City!
We are so giddy, and can barely wait to pull our first permit;)
